IJ Start Canon TS8340 Setup Drivers
IJ Start Canon TS8340 Setup Drivers– The Canon PIXMA TS8340 is a printer that has Seamless connectivity from Premium multifunction devices for high-quality photo printing with a number of versatile media options, PIXMA TS8340 is ideal for creative homes and photo enthusiasts.
The Canon Pixma TS8340 Wireless Inkjet All-in-One Printer ($ 199.99) is a consumer-grade all-in-one (AIO) photo printer designed for moderate use in a home environment. This six-ink machine produces not only great-looking photos, but also highly readable, near-laser quality text and detailed, precisely colored business graphics. It lacks the convenient Epson Expression Premium XP-7100 Automatic Duplex Automatic Document Feeder Small-in-one of the editors, but is otherwise an excellent home office companion.
All colors
Along with the standard cyan, magenta, yellow and black (CMYK) process colors, the TS8340 comes with pigmented black and photo-blue inks. Black pigment darkens text and makes black areas in photos and graphics deeper. And, according to Canon, photo-blue ink improves definition (helping to eliminate graininess) and increases the color range.
Like the Pixma TS8220 before, the TS8340 comes in three colors: black, red and white (Canon sent me one white). At 5.6 by 14.7 by 12.6 inches (HWD) and weighing 14.6 pounds, it is the same size and circumference as its predecessor TS8220 and the more robust Pixma TS9120. Epson’s competitor Expression Premium XP-7100 Small-in-One and HP’s All-in-One Envy Photo 7155 are also similar in weight and size. Consumer-centric photo AIOs such as these are intended for home office use and are therefore designed to consume a minimal amount of desk space.
Setup and tracking tasks, such as printing from SD cards or scanning to or printing from the cloud, are handled at the TS8340 control panel, which consists only of a power button and a 4.3 touch screen. inches shown here
The TS8340, like today’s increasingly consumer AIOs, supports voice activation via Amazon’s Alexa smart appliances or Google Assistant, or via smartphone from an app, and other platforms like Cortana , from Microsoft, or Apple Siri, which support IFTTT Scripting Technology (If This Then That). In addition to the scripts that come with the TS8340, you can find and adapt others on IFTTT.com and various other websites.
The paper handling of the TS8340 consists of 200 sheets divided between a 100-sheet drawer at the front and a 100-sheet tray that pulls from the back.
The rear tray also holds up to 20 sheets of letter (or smaller) photo paper. There is also a tray that slides just above the main paper tray to print labels on suitable surface optical discs. This time, however, the CD tray is billed as a “multipurpose” tray that supports many different types of media, including nail stickers, magnetic and collapsible photo papers, and 3.5 by 3.5 inches. and 5 square photo papers of 10 to 15 cm. The TS8340 automatically prints two-sided pages and the flatbed scanner scans and copies even photos and letter-size documents.
Plus, the 30-page output tray extends as needed – so your documents never end up on the floor.
Unfortunately, there is no automatic document feeder (ADF) to scan and copy multipage documents. In fact, to get a TS Series Pixma ADF, you’ll need to move to the wide-format TS9520. As mentioned, the Epson XP-7100 comes with a 35 page ADF.
In comparison, the paper capacity of the Pixma TS9120 is also 200 sheets, while the XP-7100 holds up to 120 sheets, split between a 100-sheet main cassette and a 20-sheet photo paper insert. Canon stopped publishing the monthly work cycle and recommended monthly volume ratings on its professional photo printers a few years ago, although my guess is that the TS8340 should easily produce a few hundred pages a month without breaking a sweat.
Connectivity and Software
Standard interfaces are Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 LE (Low Energy), connecting to a single PC via USB 2.0, PictBridge Wireless for printing on compatible Canon cameras, and a memory card slot for printing to SD cards. In addition to Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, mobile device support consists of Apple AirPrint, Google Cloud Print, Mopria or the Canon Print app. You can also print from various types of SD cards through the slot located to the left of the output tray.

You can also get Easy PhotoPrint Editor as a mobile app that lets you make corrections and enhancements to the photos you take with your mobile device without transferring them to your PC.
Also included is Canon’s Message In Print application, which lets you embed hidden messages such as animations, text, music, video links, etc. directly directly on the image. Friends, family or co-workers can download and install the app and simply hold mobile cameras over the image to reveal their personalized messages or open links contained in photos.
Timing the TS8340
Canon rates the TS8340 at 15 pages per minute (ppm) for monochrome pages and 10 ppm for color pages. To confirm these speeds, I tested it via USB on our standard Intel Core i5 test PC running Windows 10 Professional. During the first part of my test regime, the TS8340 printed our standard 12-page Microsoft Word test document at 15 ppm, corresponding to its rating. This score is about 1.5ppm faster than its brother TS9120 and its predecessor TS8220. The Epson XP-7100 also printed the document at 15ppm, and the HP Envy 7155 got 1ppm behind it.
How we tested printers
For the next test, I printed a variety of complex and colorful Acrobat business documents, Excel spreadsheets and charts, and PowerPoint brochures containing business charts and a variety of fonts in many different colors and sizes. I then combined these results with the previous 12-page text document test score and got a 5.1ppm score, which was slightly faster than the TS8220 and TS9120, 1.5ppm slower than the XP-7100. and 1.3ppm faster than the HP 7155.
The TS8340 printed our 10 x 15 cm detailed color pair of snapshots averaging 29 seconds, which was almost a few seconds for most other models mentioned here, except that the HP 7155’s 44 seconds lasted several seconds slower. Between 30 and 60 seconds is the average of snapshot printing between these consumer photo printers.
Pixma Imaging Excellence
Few professional-quality photo AIOs print and copy, as well as Canon’s six-ink Pixmas, especially photos and graphics, and the TS8340 maintains that tradition. It also prints well-formatted and highly readable text, and graphics are displayed without noticeable streaks or stripes. Colors and gradients are bright and accurate.
But the TS8340 is the first photo printer and it shows. The printed 4-by-6-inch and 8-by-10-inch borderless photo test displayed vibrant color and stunning detail, rivaled only by Canon’s other five-and six-ink Pixmas and Epson’s five- and six-ink Expression Premium. AIOs, such as the XP-7100 mentioned earlier.
High running costs
Like most other consumer photo printers, the TS8340 is expensive to use. Depending on what you print, you pay 4-6 cents for monochrome pages and 15-17 cents for color pages. Photographs with 100% ink coverage can cost considerably more. But this is not unique to Pixmas. Epson’s similarly priced photo printers, including the previously mentioned XP-7100, cost about the same as the TS8340 to use.
HP’s four-ink printers (cyan, magenta, yellow, and black), including the Envy 7155, are machines with instant ink capacity. If you sign up for the company’s Instant Ink subscription program, you can spend just 3.5 cents per page.
Six-ink pixels, like the TS8340, cost significantly more than many comparable models, but few available inkjets are also printed, making this a classic example of getting what you pay for.
